Dealing With The Pain Of A Toothache
If you ever go through this, you may never forget it. You are out on your Mongoose mountain bike. You hit a bump and notice that your jaw is sore. Maybe you are at a fast food restaurant and bite into a hamburger. There is pain. It may start out as a mild annoyance. It could also begin as sensitivity to hot or cold. It may progress to having difficulty chewing food. Eventually it may become severe pain. What do you do? Are there things to temporarily relieve the pain? Here are answers to those questions.
If you have not already done so, call your dentist. You may not be able to get in very quickly. Same day appointments can be very expensive. You may not have insurance. You may not have the money for a dentist visit. An exam, x-rays, and such are expensive.
Do not panic. You may bot be able to see a dentist for a while. When you call the dentist, ask for pain pills. Someone may call a prescription into your pharmacy, for you. This may give you some relief.
Call your personal trainer and cancel your workout. You may wish to avoid strenuous exercise, until your tooth is taken care of. Exercise will get your blood pumping harder. This can increase the throbbing of a toothache.
If you cannot get prescription pain medication, consider over the counter stuff. You might try aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. Some people will find some relief with extra strength acetaminophen.
Rubbing cayenne pepper on the tooth may help. Oil of cloves is a good option, too. You can buy it at health food stores. Place several drops on a cotton swab. Rub the swab on the tooth and gum area. It will numb it for a few hours. Do you have a hole in a tooth? Soak a small amount of cotton in oil of cloves, and place it in the tooth.
You can also buy toothache kits at most pharmacies. They have oil of clove, cotton pellets, and tweezers. It is easy to get relief, if there is a hole or opening in the tooth. You can also buy several types of numbing lotions and creams. Remember, all of this is only a temporary fix, until you get to a dentist.

Pain from a toothache can be excruciating, at times. Remain calm, to lessen the pain. Call your dentist for an appointment. Ask for pain pills, also. Are you going out on your Diamondback bikes, this evening? This may not be a good idea. Exercise can make you hurt much worse. Check out remedies like cayenne pepper and clove oil. Pharmacies may carry toothache kits and over the counter pain medication.
