Ways To Naturally Reduce Teeth Stains
If you are like many people, you depend on coffee to get you through your busy days. You may have noticed recently the toll drinking coffee or soft drinks is having on your teeth. Effects such as the ones your sanyo rice cooker is having on your diet when you use it too often! However, there are practical steps you can take to protect your teeth against stains that occur from drinking coffee and other caffeinated drinks.
The most productive preventative measure you can take is to cut out, or cut down on these drinks. However, if you are dependent on caffeine to get you through your day this is probably a non-option. The next best thing would be to brush your teeth after you have one such drink.
However, if you do not want to pull your toothbrush out several times a day at your place of employment, go for a drink of water after your cup of coffee. Swish around the water in your mouth the same amount of time it takes to cake batter to blend on a kitchen hand mixer. Water will wash away unwanted film that is left on your teeth from these drinks. If you do not wash this film away, your teeth will likely get stained.
Eat healthy, crunchy snacks. Vegetables like apples, carrots and celery can also help remove this film from your teeth. Unlike the carrots you pull out of a roasting pan, make sure they are nice and crunchy when you eat them for teeth cleaning purposes.
The effects of caffeinated drinks on your teeth can be lowered if you drink them through a straw. A straw will help a drink pass through to the back of your mouth quickly, lessening the contact it has with your teeth. This can be great for cold drinks, but you probably do not want to drink your coffee through a straw unless it’s an ice-coffee!
If a straw is not available, or convenient for your drink, do not keep colored liquid in your mouth for long. Do not swish your caffeinated drink around in your mouth. Allowing these drinks to hang out in your mouth for long will contribute to staining.
Chewing sugar free gum after drinks or meals can also help reduce teeth staining. Remember, none of these methods are substitutes for brushing. These tips are only for you when it is absolutely impossible to brush!
